Hand-carved in wax and cast, liver of sulfur patina, lots of love.

Can never be too careful! :)
I should be starting to make more in about a month or so, once I'm settled in from moving.

I would say they're closer to protective signs, like amulets and the like, than to runes (which are to me more language and divination based) - but these aren't from a real culture, of course. H.P. Lovecraft created an entire mythos including a large variety of gods, species, creatures, monsters... These (the tree being his design, the star from another author) protected the wearer from the negative attentions of some of those gods/creatures.

Of course, they are both worn by those of us who are huge fans of Lovecraft's writing, and are the two most common symbols of the Cthulhu Mythos (aside from Cthulhu himself of course).. :)
